There are a lot of little things about our period that add up.
The planning, the running out of things at the worst time, and the constant need to stay one step ahead of our own cycle. Period underwear doesn’t change the fact that we have a period, but it does make a lot of the little things easier to deal with.
A significant benefit of using period underwear is felt financially. We as women, spend hundreds of dollars a year on disposable period products, which adds up to thousands over a lifetime. It’s honestly like an ongoing subscription we didn't have a choice to sign up for.
Instead of buying disposable products every month, we designed our period underwear to last, giving us something we can use month after month. It saves us money over time, and also keeps us from those last-minute store runs that always feel more stressful than they should. By making the swap to period underwear, we lower our waste impact since we are not continuously throwing away single use products every month.
It’s one of those changes that makes sense the longer we use it. As we add pairs into our wardrobe, we will never be caught off guard without anything to fall back on when our period comes.
Beyond the financial side, there are real health benefits too. A lot of us use pads and tampons because that was all we were given to work with, so why would we stop to question it?
Aside from the obvious discomfort, we are basically walking around with a sticky, bulky, shifting diaper (ie. pad) attached to us all day and/or constantly wearing a tampon internally that can become exhausting after consecutive day use. Both are known to cause irritation, vaginal dryness, and in some cases, Toxic Shock Syndrome (TTS). Her Bloom period underwear is designed with soft, breathable, natural fibers to eradicate irritation, and with our full front-to-back leak protection you are able to free-bleed all day and say goodbye to vaginal dryness.
Switching to something more breathable just feels better on the body. We notice less irritation and more comfort overall. In a way, it makes us realize how much discomfort we were pushing through just because it was considered normal.

At the end of the day, it’s not about changing what a period looks like. Our period is just a part of our lives and it always will be. It’s more about changing how we move through it, making it feel lighter, less stressful, and honestly just easier.
We are all figuring out ways to take care of ourselves as the world constantly evolves around us. Her Bloom was created to redefine how we experience our cycles, with comfort, confidence and care at the center. Sometimes we don’t need to make a big change, just small switches to make us feel more supported and a little more like we’ve got it handled.
